**Preliminary Autopsy Report Reveals Cause of Death for Liam Payne**
Liam Payne tragically passed away on October 16 after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires. The preliminary autopsy report released by the prosecutor’s office in Argentina indicates that the 31-year-old singer died from internal and external injuries sustained during the fall.
According to the Spanish-language press release from the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office, initial findings suggest that Payne was alone and under the influence of substances at the time of the incident, which occurred at 5:07 PM. A frantic 911 call made by hotel staff shortly before his death reported that a guest was "overwhelmed with drugs and alcohol" and "destroying their room." By the time police arrived, Payne had already succumbed to his injuries.
The autopsy report notes that Payne's body was taken to the Judicial Morgue, where forensic doctors examined it from 9:45 PM to 11:05 PM. They identified 25 injuries consistent with a fall from height and noted the absence of defensive wounds on his hands, suggesting he may have been partially or fully unconscious at the time of the fall. No signs of third-party intervention were found.
Investigators are still looking into the circumstances surrounding the singer's death, including whether a third party was involved. On the night of Payne’s passing, investigators interviewed five individuals, including three hotel employees and two women who had been with him shortly before the fall. Substances resembling narcotics and alcoholic beverages were discovered in his room.
Further toxicology tests are pending to assess the role that drugs and alcohol may have played in Payne’s death.
News of the former X Factor star’s death sent shockwaves through the music industry, prompting fans and peers to express their grief on social media. His family released a statement saying, “We are heartbroken. Liam will forever live in our hearts, and we’ll remember him for his kind, funny, and brave soul. We are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy during this difficult time.”
Payne is survived by his 7-year-old son, Bear, whom he shared with ex-partner Cheryl Cole. After achieving numerous hits with One Direction from 2010 to 2016, he embarked on a successful solo career.
